Accreditations

Regional Accreditation
The University of Cincinnati is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges (NCA).** The NCA are recognized by both the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the United States Department of Education (USDE).

Why Regional Accreditation Is Important to You?
Regional accreditation is the primary type of institutional accreditation used in the United States: it represents the highest level of accreditation. Some of the newer institutions featuring primarily online programs hold a different type of accreditation rather than regional accreditation because they are unwilling or unable to meet the rigorous standards of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the United States Department of Education (USDE). Prospective students should be aware that many regionally accredited health administration programs do not recognize credits or degrees earned at institutions that are not so accredited, and that some employers may not consider degrees from non-regionally accredited schools to be of the same quality as those so accredited.

CAHIIM Accreditation
The Health Information Management program is recognized and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).*

    Hi,
If I recieve my Bachelor’s through UC in HIM and then wanted to pursue a Master’s at MY LOCAL state University would they recognize the Bachelor’s I receive at UC? I guess I am unsure about accreditation and what not… and I would like the oppurtunity to get my Master’s after getting my BS just in case I decide to go that route.

    Thanks!

Hello Charleen, It’s always best to investigate before you decide but yes, the good news is that we are accredited though CAHIIM and we are regionally accredited so you may take our degree and earn a Master’s afterwards.
