Recommendations where I could go to get an reputable AS in HIM that will transfer credits here.
Hello Debra, Thank you for your interest!
One of our prerequisites is that our applicants need to hold an AS (HIM/HIT) degree from a CAHIIM accredited school. With that in mind, I would recommend searching CAHIIM’s website to find a list of available programs.
They also have a “distance learning” check box so you can exclusively search online programs! We look forward to hearing from you once you finish your AS degree.

Can you be admitted to the program is you have a certification and have a BSN?
Hello B. Bryant, I’m very sorry but you need your AS degree and your RHIT in order to apply. If you refer you CAHIIM’s website you should be able to locate a couple of post-bachelor programs. I hope that helps.

Hello Sarah,
Unfortunately I reside in Barbados and was interested in the fact that this is an online programme. If I were able to send transcripts for a Healthcare Administration Certificate, would this be enough for admission requirements.
Originally I have spent the last 20 years in executive administration and now seek to change careers into healthcare.
Please let me know.
Regards,
Monique
Hello Monique, I’m very sorry but you need your AS degree from a CAHIIM accredited program in order to apply.

Is the HIT Associate of Science through Draughons Junior College accrediated for the program.
Hello Jackie, I checked CAHIIM’s website, and I was not able to find that school. You may check for yourself (in case they are known by a different name perhaps) by using this link: http://www.cahiim.org/accredpgms.asp.

1. How many students do you admit? What are my chances of being admitted?
2. Are there still spaces available for the Fall 2012 semester?
3. How do the program officials determine who to admit to the program?
4. How large are the classes in terms of number of students?
Thank you,
Rohit
Hello Rohit,
Thanks for your interest. I will answer your questions in order. We do not have a limit on the amount of students we admit. Yes, we still have availability for the Fall semester. Our early admissions deadline is April 15th and the absolute deadline is June 25th. We usually accept those that meet the qualifications, but ultimately, your application does have to go through a review process and a decision is determined after that review. Our class sizes range anywhere from 15-35 people, and each class has an instructor and a facilitator.
I hope that helps. Feel free to call or email with any additional questions.

Hello, I noticed to get admitted into the program that you need an AS/AAS in HIT from a CAHIIM accredited school. Does this matter if it is a for-profit school as long as it is accredited by CAHIIM. I am currently looking into a for-profit that has recently been accredited by CAHIIM (the last 2 months or so). But, I have noticed that the credit hours are a bit different than at the local jr. college. Will this pose any issues getting accepted into this program?
Hello Heather, I will answer your question in case others have the same, but it was nice speaking to you on the phone. As long as your school holds the CAHIIM accreditation then you are OK to apply.
I hope that helps.

I will graduate with an AS in HIM from Stark State College in a few weeks. I am scheduled to take the RHIT exam on 6/2/2012. Can I apply to the program now or do I have to wait until I complete the program?
Hello Tammy, you can go ahead and apply with a transcript from Stark State College and a letter from your HIT program stating you are enrolled in your final term and your anticipated graduation date. Please call me and we will get the process going.

I graduated last year in Durham Tech North Carolina and I got 2.74, I did and passed RHIT on April 9 2012. My question was whether you consider out of state student and whether I can apply and register without coming to college.
I visited ECU and program director told me due to projected changes in the certification requirements of the Council on Certification of the American Health Information Management Association, they are going to discontinue the bachelor’s program. The last intake was fall 2011 and admitted students should plan to complete this Bachelor of Science in health information management by May 2013. Are you aware about that?
Hello Charles, thank you for your interest! Yes! In fact, this is a 100% online program so you never have to come to campus. Certification changes can often impact certain programs but I have not heard about it impacting ours.
Feel free to call me to move forward.

I graduated form an Accredited CAHIM HIT associates program this past March 16th, 2012. I just got my AHIMA approval to sit down for my RHIT, which I have until September to take it. What happens if I enroll start classes on 8/27/12 and fail my first attempt at my RHIT?, can I still continue to takes my classes with UCU?
Hello Carolina, our rule is that if you have graduated six months ago and under, you may apply without your RHIT. Then, you have another six months into the program to pass your exam.
I hope that helps. Feel free to call me with any additional questions at 800-499-6813 x 464.
