What led you to Health Information Management as a career?
I wanted to expand my management experience to include management roles in Health Information.
Why did you choose UC’s HIM program?
I liked the convenience of taking classes online.
What were some of the perks of being a UC HIM student?
I didn’t experience any yet.
What made you successful in this program?
I was successful in this program because of the help and encouragement I received from my classmates and the facilitators when I needed it.
What do you hope to do with your degree in the future?
I would like to continue in the area of coding and eventually become a coding manager or supervisor in a small hospital.
What do you hope to accomplish in HIM throughout your career?
I hope to make a difference by teaching other HIM professionals the knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my career in HIM.
How do you see the HIM industry changing in the next 5 years?
I see the HIM industry changing by needing HIM professionals in more specialized areas.
What piece of advice do you have for future and current students?
The advice I have for future students and current students is to take advantage of each opportunity that is presented in front of you. It is important to learn everything you can from this program and become a manager that is prepared to go out into the world and make a difference.
