Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

Registered Health Information Management Administrator (RHIA) certification requires you to complete a bachelor's degree from a CAHIIM† -accredited health information management program and to pass the certification exam.

RHIAs collect, interpret, and analyze patient data and communicate the information throughout the organization that use it to make improvements. Graduates of the University of Cincinnati's Health Information Management program are prepared to take the RHIA certification exam and assume leadership roles in the field.

The growth in managed care and electronic patient records continues to expand job opportunities for RHIAs. An AHIMA membership survey reported more than half of the respondents worked as directors, managers, or consultants.
