Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)

Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification requires an associate's degree from an accredited Health Information Technology program and passing the RHIT certification exam. RHIT professionals serve the vital role of ensuring accuracy, completeness, and privacy of medical records. Increased use of electronic healthcare records also enables them to compile and analyze patient data to discover ways of improving patient care or implementing cost efficiencies in the processes. Some RHITs work as cancer registrars compiling and maintaining data on cancer patients. Others specialize in coding diagnoses and procedures.

Holding RHIT certification will help you qualify for UC's Health Information Management bachelor's degree program, an important step in becoming a RHIA and furthering your career.
